New England Retail Properties, Inc. (NERP) announces the acquisition of 4.02 acres of commercial land at the corner of Beaumont Road and Route 5, North Colony Road in Wallingford, Connecticut for the purpose of developing a small shopping center to be anchored by Tractor Supply Company (TSC) of Brentwood, TN. The site, which is adjacent to the Walmart Superstore, will be home to the newest Tractor Supply prototype, known as the “1 Tractor” prototype which includes all of the latest retail innovations TSC has incorporated into their stores. Some of the newest features include a pet wash complete with shampoo, conditioner and dryers permitting customers to come in and wash/dry their pets; in-store internet; order at home and have it ready at the store for pickup; and home delivery for certain larger items.

Tractor Supply has over 1,700 stores in 49 states. TSC is focused on fulfilling the lifestyle needs of recreational farmers, ranchers, tradesmen and small businesses as well as those who enjoy the rural lifestyle. When shopping at Tractor Supply, customers can find everything from pet food for small animals and livestock to hardware, tools and clothes for outdoor work or recreation.

Matthew Darling, Vice President at NERP was responsible for the negotiations required to acquire the property and Mark D’Addabbo, President of NERP and Developer/Member of the LLC worked with the tenant to complete the lease negotiations.

Coastland Construction of Middlefield, CT has been selected to do the site work and W.R. Newman of Nashville, TN is handling the building construction. PeoplesBank of Holyoke, MA is financing the project, Oxford Architecture designed the building and Jim Cassidy of Hallisey, Pearson & Cassidy is responsible for the civil engineering. The site is under construction currently and is expected to turnover and open later this year.
