CONWAY — Nearly 2½ years after first getting approval from the Conway Planning Board, andeight months after ground was broken offthe North-South Road in July, the new Tractor Supply Co.store is set to open Saturday at 8 a.m.

The grand opening week is set for Feb. 15-18.

“We’ll have some special sales exclusive to this store to get our neighbors into the store to see what we have to offer,” said Kathleen McKay, store manager, during a tour of the brand-new space on Tuesday morning.

The tour wound through the work clothing area, past aisles of livestock and equine feed, past pet toys and pet food products.

At the back of the store, more products awaited, including tires for ATVs, tractor supplies (surprise!)and even a pet washing station that will allow customers to bathe their pets.

Among the products a shopper will find are items pertaining to the following categories: trailers and towing; farm and ranch equipment; fencing and gates; poultry and livestock feed and supplies; pet supplies; bird supplies; lawn and garden; home improvement products; tools; truck and automotive gear; heating and cooling heaters including wood stoves, pellet stoves, coal stoves and wood pellets and fuel blocks; along with sporting goods-outdoor living gear; pet and children’s toys, coats and shoes.

McKay said the store will welcome the local 4-H club on Feb. 18 and other groups, and will do alive remote broadcast on WMWV 93.5-FM from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Feb. 17.

McKay said she has a full staff of about 20 employees hired.

A garden center will open in spring, noted McKay, who moved here from Rhode Island with her husband, Gavin McKay, a veteran who is now serving with the Conway Police Department.

“We are very excited to be living here in the valley. Everyone has been so welcoming to us,” saidMcKay, an avid gardener and horse owner

She said this is Tractor Supply’s 25th store in New Hampshire. The closest is in Ossipee.

The 19,028-square-foot, one-story store is located just north of the PetSmart store and accessed off the third roundabout off the North-South Road.

There is also an in-only curb-cut for northbound-traffic via the North-South Road.

The new store opened within the targeted completion date of the first quarter of 2024, set by developer Mathew J. Halprin of Conway Development Partners, LLC of Wethersfield, Conn.

According to the Conway town assessing office, Conway Development Partners on June 16purchased the 10.44-acre site for $2.4 million from Fairway Nominee Trust/the Joseph R. MullinsTrust of Boston and is leasing 4 acres long-term to Tractor Supply.

The general contractor was W.R. Newman of Nashville, Tenn., a company that is used by TractorSupply for its store construction, according to Halprin.

The site received conditional subdivisional approval from the planning board in February 2021 and received final approval in May of this year. It was subdivided into the 4.2-acre lot for the TractorSupply store and another 6.24-acre lot, with plans for the second lot not yet announced, according to Halprin.

Conway Development Partners received a one-year extension of its original conditional approval inAugust 2022.

The project was approved by the planning board prior to the town’s one-year moratorium on commercial projects exceeding 50,000 square feet that was enacted by voters last April.

Conway Development Partners, Halprin said, is a division of New England Retail Properties, Inc.,which was founded in 1987 as a shopping center brokerage and development company. They have helped build more than 65 Tractor Supply Co. stores in New England and New York State.
