Tractor Supply Company celebrated the Official Grand Opening of their new store in Stafford, CT on January 18th, 2020. The Grand Opening ceremony included appearances from radio personality Damon Scott of Country 92.5, Maggie the Mini Pony and complimentary popcorn from Pop Mama. The festivities were followed by a ribbon cutting ceremony where General Manager, Shawn Mailhoit, cut the ribbon symbolizing the official grand opening. District Manager Rich Warren was also in attendance. Prizes and discounts were also given out during the event.

Outback Steakhouse to Close Manchester Restaurant

MANCHESTER — The Outback Steakhouse on Hale Road is set to close by the end of the month, a spokeswoman for the restaurant chain’s parent company confirmed Thursday.

Elizabeth Watts, director of communications for Bloomin’ Brands Inc., said the steakhouse’s last day of business will be Jan. 26. Most employees will transfer to a nearby restaurant, Watts said, and those who do not will receive a severance package.

“Closing a restaurant is never easy,” she said in a statement. “This decision was made based solely on business circumstances and has no reflection on the employees or management team. We truly appreciate the community’s support the past 25 years.”

New England Retail Properties exclusively represented the seller of the property, Florida based Springsan Company. New England Retail Properties secured the buyer on behalf of the seller. The East Springfield property consisting of a 42,700 square-foot building on approximately 4.38 acres sold to OSJ of Springfield LLC.

The property will become the future home to Ocean State Job Lot, the largest closeout retailer in the Northeast. The company based in North Kingston, Rhode Island operates 139 stores throughout New England, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Ocean State Job Lot is presently located at 1534 Boston Road and will be relocating to the new space.

Matt Halprin, Senior Vice President of New England Retail Properties, Inc., brokers sale of land located at 1799 Meriden-Waterbury Turnpike in Southington, CT for $750,000 to Michigan based hospitality group. The hospitality group has over 318 restaurants throughout 16 states. Pat Gallagher of Atlantic Retail Properties represented the purchaser. The land is located on Route 322 in front of the AMC Southington 12 movie theater and consists of 1.47 Acres.

The property will become home to a new Wendy’s franchise that is slated to open in early 2020. Waterford — Tractor Supply Co. has plans to open a retail store in Waterford Commons, in the shuttered Babies R Us store.

The Waterford Planning and Zoning Commission on June 24 approved a request from Brixmor, the management group for Waterford Commons, for modification of an existing site plan and a special permit. This is to accommodate a proposed outdoor display area to support the store, according to records on file with the town.

Calling it a win-win, Waterford Planning Director Abby Piersall told The Day on Wednesday, “It’s a great business. I think they have a real strong following of people who have a strong loyalty to that brand.”

She noted that Tractor Supply had been targeting Waterford, and that Brixmor worked hard to get a tenant into the former Babies R Us space.
